COACHES/STAFF:

Sheila Thomsen
Sheila is the director of the Georgia Aquatic Center. She teaches water aerobics and is the program director of Swim America, director of the Oconee Swim Academy, and the Greater Oconee Swim Club’s US Club Representative. She has been greatly influential in the development of local youth swim programs in the community. Sheila is ASCA level 2 certified.

Chris Roberts
Chris is a high energy, results oriented coach who concentrates on technique. She is originally from North Carolina where she swam for the Mecklenburg Aquatic Club (MAC) and competed at the state level for four years throughout high school. She graduated from Presbyterian College in 2007 where she ran cross county and received her B.A. in studio arts. She has coached various teams including Lake Norman YMCA’s Flying Fish and Goldfish for six years. Other teams include MAC’s Junior Swim League, Elizabethtown Area High School, and Georgia Aquatic Center’s Blue Marlins. She is head coach of the Greater Oconee Swim Club. Chris is ASCA level 3 certified.

Katlyn Thomsen
Kate loves developing younger swimmers and nurturing their personal growth. She is native to Oconee County, GA where she swam for OCHS’s Warrior swim team. She competed at the state level and also helped the team to become region champions for the 2007-2008 season. She has coached for four years on various age-group teams and has established herself as one of Oconee Swim Academy’s most accomplished swim instructors. She is currently attending the University of Georgia where she is studying exercise and sports sciences. Kate is ASCA level 3 certified.

Bill Price
Bill believes his life calling is to train young people and guide them to who they are. He is originally from Conyers, GA where he swam at the state level. After returning from two tours in Iraq, Bill moved to Oconee and assists in coaching OCHS’s swim team for the 2009-2010 season. He is currently studying at Gainsville State College and hopes to pursue a career in youth coaching. Bill is ASCA level 1 certified.

Brittany Thomsen
Brittany has a bubbly personality that young swimmers naturally gravitate to. She is native to Oconee County, GA where she swam for OCHS’s Warrior swim team. She is currently attending Gainsville State College and plans to transfer to the University of Georgia in the fall of 2010. She has coached on various age-group teams and now assists the Greater Oconee Swim Club. She is also an accomplished swim instructor for the Georgia Aquatic Center. Brittany is ASCA level 2 certified.

Lindsay Taras
Lindsay is a warm-hearted, patient individual who loves working with children. She is native to Oconee County, GA where she ran track. Although relatively new to swimming, she has proved to be a natural learner and has established herself as a talented swim instructor for the Oconee Swim Academy as well as an assistant coach for the Greater Oconee Swim Club. She is currently attending Gainsville State College. Lindsay is ASCA level 1 certified.
