Oconee Swim Academy, our learn-to-swim school, is an official SwimAmerica™ franchise. Oconee Swim Academy offers the area’s only SwimAmerica™ curriculum, the nations leading learn-to-swim school, and is run by certified coaches and instructors. Our instructors are professionally prepared with the latest in teaching methods. SwimAmerica™ is the only swim program endorsed by the American Swim Coaches Association (ASCA), the most prestigious coaches association in the world and the same people who bring you the USA Olympic Swim Team. With an emphasis on safety and proper technique, we offer the best value in swim lessons. Classes are kept at a low student to instructor ratio of 5:1 to ensure an optimal learning environment and individual attention for each child. We offer group lessons, private lessons, parent/child classes as well as classes for adult swimmers.
Classes for group lessons are set based on your little swimmers abilities. Following is a brief description of class levels; please call for an on-deck evaluation if you have any questions. With a multitude of class times it is usually a simple matter to adjust your swimmers level if the need arises. Level 1-2 lessons emphasize water safety. Students will be demonstrated a proper safety slide for entering the pool and exit skills for self rescue in case of accidental entry. Water comfort skills, including bubble blowing, front and back floats, will be mastered. Level 3-4 lessons focus on mastering forward glides as well as an introduction to freestyle and backstroke. Level 5-6 lessons mark the beginning of stroke work as well as independence from the swim instructor.
Swim lessons will start in February and run in four-week sessions, with classes occurring on either Monday and Wednesday evenings or Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Each lesson is thirty minutes long. Oconee Swim Academy will offer make-up days for lessons that occur on national or school holidays, however make up classes for missed lessons will not be allowed. In the event of extended illnesses, we will work with you. We welcome all children with all ability levels, however if you are concerned with special circumstances please talk to us and we can schedule private swimming lessons.
